Compose & schedule
How posts are written, timed and published, and what each status means.
Writing a post
A post has a caption, optional hashtags, optional title, and media. Rostido adapts it for each platform, for example YouTube uses the title and puts hashtags in the description. See Platform rules for the details.
When you pick several accounts, Rostido creates one post per account, grouped together, so each platform gets its own status and can be retried on its own.
Scheduling
- Times are picked in your local time zone and stored in UTC.
- Each post fires at its exact minute.
- A safety sweep runs every 5 minutes, so a post still goes out if the server restarted at the scheduled time.
- To move a post, change its time. Setting it back to draft cancels the schedule.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
draft | Saved without a time. Nothing will be published. |
scheduled | Waiting for its time, or queued to publish now. |
publishing | Uploading to the platform. |
published | Live. The post links to it on the platform. |
failed | Gave up after 3 attempts. The error log says why. |
When publishing fails
A failed attempt goes back to scheduled and is retried on the next sweep. After the third failed attempt the post is marked failed. Common causes are an expired connection, media the platform rejects, or a platform rate limit.
